October Newsletter and Other Fall News
Well, here it is, Shane Acres very first monthly newsletter, October 2019! It is a work in progress, so if there is something you’d like to see in the next newsletter let me know! In this newsletter you will find several local events from groups such as The Dodge County Women’s Club , The Wisconsin Antique Dealer’s Association, along with some fall farmer’s markets at Dane County, and Lomiraย .
By the way, have you taken advantage of the 10% Fall special happening from now until December 31, 2019?
Our beloved buckboard received some seasonal trimmings. The pumpkins were grown in our own garden; well, one of several gardens. These pumpkins came from the garden (or compost) in our marsh. We planted the seeds in the spring and let them grow without tending to them – no one wanted to slosh into the marsh until it was necessary ๐ We have at least 20 pumpkins from that patch all around the grounds. That should be our newest outdoor game; find all 20 pumpkins! But then that means I’ll have to find them first. When you visit our local Waldvogel’s Pumpkin Farm, bring your pumpkin back here to carve it at our oversized kitchen table with two-windowed walls. We’ll even bake those pumpkin seeds for you to take home!
Speaking of buckboard . . . what is a buckboard? I had to figure that out quickly when Jackie informed us she bought a “buckboard” and would be bringing it home. She wanted us to figure out where to put it. Thank goodness for Google! According to dictionary.com a buckboard is “an open, four-wheeled, horse-drawn carriage with seating that is attached to a plank stretching between the front and rear axles”. It fits right in with the Country Inn idea! In honor of the Wisconsin Antique Dealers Association Show happening in Waukesha on October 4 we should find out if our buckboard is an antique or if it’s just vintage.
